I don't share the same things with my family members that I share with my co-workers that I share with my close friends.
Imagine if every Text/WhatsApp/Snapchat message was sent out to every single person in your contacts list. Imagine is Slack had no 'channels', just a single room for everyone in the company.
Facebook's News Feed worked when it was smaller and you really only had your 'friends' on it. When you add your family members, co-workers, acquaintances, exes, it stops being useful.
Its the reason why most of my meaningful conversations with Facebook 'friends' happen over Facebook Messenger. Its the reason why the only thing people share on the News Feed anymore is external website links or vacation photos.
